
Reduce food waste – sustainable eating
To reduce food waste will save you money and help the climate and environment. It can also save time. Did you know that time is one of the most common factors why healthy habits doesn’t happen? You will reduce your food waste and increase your time if you plan your grocery shopping and limit your visits to the store. Another way to make some more time is to cook several portions when you cook so you can save some in the freezer for busy days.
What you do can make a big difference, the amount of food that goes to waste is enormous. In Sweden the average edible food waste per person is 15 kg. So, YOU can make a difference.

How to reduce food waste

Take care of your leftovers, eat them for lunch the next day or freeze them for later.

Do you have many smaller portions? Make a smorgasbord and serve them all together.

Plan your meals for a week and shop all at once.

If your fruits and veggies are looking “tired” freeze them or use them in a stew, casserole, or soup.

Freeze brown bananas and use in smoothies or make banana bread.

Slice your bread and keep them in a plastic bag in the freezer. Defrost or toast them right away.
